Student Success Workshops
Although students have access to academic advising and tutoring, they may need additional support in building navigational and educational skills. Student success initiatives provide this support. Shortly after beginning my full-time position with Ivy Tech, I took the lead on several of these initiatives, including skill-based workshops like note-taking, time management, and email etiquette. Though these workshops were designed for cocurricular learning, they were also available upon request by faculty for an in-classroom presentation.

Student Success Satisfaction Survey
Assessment is a critical component to any organization. Recognizing the need for additional data to guide efforts and decision-making, the Student Success department at Ivy Tech Marion leveraged my background in assessment to develop a survey. This survey is open to all students and external connections to provide feedback on the department's performance. Qualitative and Likert-Scale data is used to evaluate both individuals and the office as a whole.

Mental Health First Aid Certification
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing emphasizes the importance of early intervention and crisis management in mental health challenges. I had the opportunity through my employment at Ball State University to become certified in Mental Health First Aid. This certification greatly solidified my capacity to recognize signs/symptoms of mental health challenges in colleagues and students.

#EndCCStigma Video
Lansing Community College's Dr. Steve Robinson began an online movement, #EndCCStigma, intended to subvert the pervasive, negative narratives surrounding community colleges and their student populations. As a contribution to that work, I developed a "Success Stories" video, designed to highlight celebrities who began their journey in community college and juxtapose their inspirational stories with the lies stigma tells. This video was posted to my LinkedIn profile and is publicly accessible on YouTube.

Student Flag Response Templates
Academic Advisors are traditionally responsible for addressing the academic goals, requirements, and needs that students face. At Ivy Tech, the state-wide community college system of Indiana, advisors respond to various "flag" situations, including missed classes, low grades, and more. During my time as a practicum student for Ivy Tech Hamilton County, I was tasked with developing a series of communication templates that an advising team could modify and use to respond to student flags. These templates were designed in Excel and use concatenation to string together preset text with editable names, courses, and information.Â

Professional Development Plan
I am committed to lifelong learning and professional development, exemplified by this final project I completed for a course in my graduate program. After articulating goals based on career competencies in student affairs, I completed several objectives for professional networking, skill building, and ongoing growth. This website is one of the ongoing projects initiated by this plan!

University Apartments Resident Assistants
Going into my second year as Resident Manager for the University Apartments (UA) at BSU, the Housing and Residence Life department decided to add Resident Assistants to the UA student staff. I was tasked with creating and running the hiring process, including the position description, communications, application, and housing assignments.

AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification
As I learned more in graduate school about the student affairs field, I discovered the pivotal role that cloud infrastructures play in managing and analyzing student data. In the Summer of 2023, I worked more closely with Housing and Residence Life's Associate Director of Business Operations to write queries on the Housing database. I also used the professional development funds for my position to take the Certified Cloud Practitioner exam through Amazon Web Services, the leading supplier of cloud-based services worldwide.

UA Undertaking Adulting Series
The "University Apartments Undertaking Adulting" event series was my implementation of a curricular programming model that was in development by Ball State Housing and Residence Life. Adapted to meet the cocurricular learning outcomes designed for all students living on-campus, these events provided interactive, holistic education on a variety of "adulting" topics, including: finances and budgeting, mental health, pet care, and healthy communication.

Apartments Office Key Tracking Form
This project focused on consolidating a multi-step accounting process for apartment keys into a single online form. Pulling data from two Excel spreadsheets and Ball State's Housing management software, I condensed the data into a single Excel table. Then, using the Power Automate and Forms services from Microsoft, I linked an online form to the data sheet, such that a new entry on the form would automatically update the office's online key audit. To simplify the process further, I also linked the online form to a QR code posted in the office.

"Building Faith in the Unproven"
The full title for my undergraduate capstone project was "Building Faith in the Unproven: On Collatz, Exhaustive Mathematics, and the Mysteries of God's Creation." Part II: Faithful Mathematics became a required course reading for HNR-350: Honors Seminar in Faith and Scholarship.
Abstract: This expository study investigates the relationship between mathematics and faith, focusing on how the same exhaustive techniques employed by mathematicians to provide evidence for unproven statements can likewise build faith in the unprovable...

Python Interactive Database
The final project for my undergraduate programming course was to create a fully editable database in Python. This database, called "friends," is made from a Boolean array of names to record whether or not they are friends with each other. Functionalities include: adding persons, viewing records, adding or removing friendships, checking for friendships, counting friendships or returning the "most popular" entry, and checking the validity of the array. The program was developed and tested using Visual Studio Code.

Hodson Hall Care Package
As the Assistant Resident Director of Hodson Hall, I managed the front desk operations, hall budget, and all-hall programming. Prior to the fall semester, I created a merchandise bundle to improve the student experience in two ways: increase sense of belonging and increase the programming budget. After designing a shirt and face mask (during the COVID-19 pandemic), I took pre-orders at the front desk during freshmen move-in, then optimized purchasing to fulfill the pre-orders and gain additional supply for later merchandise sales. The optimization model was designed to maximize profit for use in hall programming without exceeding the cash on-hand from pre-orders.Â
